Capacitybuilders capital investment programme

The Capacitybuilders Capital Investment Programme was launched in 2008 to support the improvement and development of local third sector resource centres. Capacitybuilders has now been given an extra £2m of capital investment from the Office for the Third Sector.

Capacitybuilders defines third sector local resource centres as a building or an area within a building which is used as a base for providing development and support services to frontline third sector organisations within a local area, and specifically:

• offers accommodation or shared services and facilities to frontline third sector organisations with a local area
• offers services accessible to all frontline third sector organisations within a local area.

Capital Strand A 2010 grants of up to £30,000 enable local resource centres to make small-scale improvements to their premises, which result in improved availability or quality and accessibility of accommodation or shared facilities for local third sector organisations. Priority will be given to projects which have specific relevance to the challenges facing the sector during the recession.

Strand A 2010 is an open programme, with online applications welcome from existing local resource centres, including those which have previously had an application to the programme declined. The closing date for applications is midday on Thursday 24 December 2009, but early applications are more likely to succeed. In particular, priority will be given to applications received by Monday 14 December.

For further information and to submit an online application, visit http://www.capacitybuilders.org.uk/programmes/our-programmes/capital-investment-programme
